May is Mental Health Awareness Month — a time to pause, reflect, and speak up about something that affects every single one of us: our wellbeing.
At LonelyLlama, we know that behind every brave face, packed lunch, and school run, there’s often someone silently battling anxiety, overwhelm, or burnout. And we’re here to say: you don’t have to do it alone.
🌱 Parenting & Pressure
Whether you’re a mum, dad, co-parent, carer, or grandparent — parenting can push you to the edge. The expectations are high. The guilt is heavy. The “Am I doing this right?” voice never stops.
Add in sleepless nights, money worries, lack of support, or children with additional needs, and suddenly that “just get through the day” mindset becomes the norm.
Mental Health Awareness Month is our collective reminder:It’s okay to not be okay. And it’s even more okay to talk about it.
🧠 Why Mental Health Matters
We don’t talk enough about the invisible load parents carry. The pressure to “keep it all together” is real — and harmful.
1 in 5 mums experience postnatal depression
1 in 10 dads struggle with mental health after a baby arrives
And countless others face burnout, anxiety, isolation, and more — often in silence
This month isn’t just about awareness — it’s about action, compassion, and connection.
🫂 The Power of Community
When you’re in the thick of it, support can feel out of reach. That’s why LonelyLlama was created:To build a community that lifts, listens, and reminds you you’re not alone.
During Mental Health Month (and beyond), we’re running:
“Get It Off Your Chest” sessions – judgement-free spaces to talk or just be
Local meet-ups in Caister, Gorleston, Yarmouth and beyond – coffee, connection, and community
Online posts and advice – because sometimes all you need is to feel seen
Whether you show up in person, message us online, or just read along quietly — you’re part of the herd.
💬 Let’s Keep Talking
This month, let’s check in on each other. Let’s make space for hard conversations. Let’s be honest about the things we usually hide behind “I’m fine.”
Because parenting isn’t meant to be done in isolation. And healing happens faster when we’re in it together.
💚 You’re Not Alone
At LonelyLlama, we believe in showing up — for ourselves and for each other. Not just during Mental Health Awareness Month, but all year round.
So if you’re feeling low, overwhelmed, or just need someone to listen, we’re here.
🦙 Because even the strongest people need a herd.
